GML was involved in the recent Land and Environment Court (NSW) Hearing that resulted in the refusal of the development proposal that would have compromised the heritage value of the State Heritage Listed Roxy Theatre in Parramatta.
GML Partner, David Logan had provided expert assessment of the heritage impacts and advice to the Heritage Council of NSW regarding the proposal to renovate the historic Spanish Mission style theatre and construct a 30-storey tower directly above it. David subsequently gave Expert Evidence in Court on behalf of the Heritage Council and this played a key role in the Court’s decision.
The Land and Environment Court ruling stated that the fundamental issue was the extent of demolition proposed and the unacceptable detrimental impact that would result from the demolition on the heritage significance of the State Heritage item.
