Supporting the Gunii-Gu Memorial team

GML Heritage was pleased to sponsor the women’s Gunii-Gu Memorial rugby league team and support their participation in this year’s Aboriginal Rugby League carnival.

The women’s Gunii-Gu Memorial team was formed to raise awareness around child and infant loss. Gunii-Gu is Gamilaraay language which means “Mothers.”

GML’s sponsorship helped the team participate in an Aboriginal Rugby League carnival on 17 September in Walgett, NSW.

People travelled from all over NSW and QLD to participate and support the Aboriginal Rugby League carnival. 40 teams competed at the carnival in the men’s, women’s, and children’s competition and approximately 3,500 people attended the spectacle.

The women’s Gunii-Gu Memorial team made the grand final but unfortunately lost to some very good opposition.

The team looks forward to entering the competition again in 2023!
