Yilun Zhu
Graduate Heritage Consultant

Yilun Zhu holds a Master of Architecture and Master of Urban and Cultural Heritage from the Melbourne School of Design, University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours in Architecture) from the University of Liverpool. His design and research practice integrates architectural expression, heritage theory, and community memory, exploring heritage as a continuous cultural process. He focuses on experimental preservation methods and narrative interpretation strategies, and is skilled at using drawing, fieldwork, and spatial interventions to evoke overlooked histories and local experiences.

Recent projects include ongoing heritage research with the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) at the Waller House in Ivanhoe, contributing to conservation documentation, interpretive analysis, and the development of a living-archive framework. Other work includes a re-examination of the Eastern Town Hall Gardens in Ballarat through the Historic Urban Landscape (HUL) approach. Also the House of Craft—Power Station Configurator, a scaffolding-based installation at the Power Station of Art in Shanghai, combining traditional crafts with modular construction; and a spatial and policy analysis of tourism-driven transformation in historic water towns such as Wuzhen and Suzhou. His experience spans China, the UK, and Australia.
