Domain Parklands Conservation Management Plan

Context (now GML Heritage) was engaged by the City of Melbourne to undertake a Conservation Management Plan for the Domain Parklands, to inform a Masterplan being prepared by the City’s in-house staff.

The Domain Parklands, which has recently been included on the Victorian Heritage Register, provides the setting for a number of State and Nationally significant landscapes and features including the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Shrine of Remembrance, Government House and the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

The CMP updated historical research, assessed the many landscape and built features within the Domain including its substantial tree collection. Following discussions with major stakeholders, conservation issues were addressed and policies put forward for its future development and management.
